Have you ever laughed when you shouldn't?

I was preaching at a little country church once when the song leader, an elderly woman, proceeded to act out the verses to the songs, almost as if she were a ballerina. Tanya and the boys were sitting on the pew with me and, under Tanya's glare and rigorous pinching of our arms, we were able to squelch the laughs. A women's quartet had come from a nearby church, however, and they couldn't suppress it. They began to quiver and to shake, each one feeding off the laughter of the others, until they were nearly in the floor. Once they started, they couldn't stop.

Man, that's a miserable feeling. Mirth and misery all at once.

This video clip isn't from a church service. It isn't even in English, but watch the entire video and observe this host's uncontrollable fit of laughter when he hears the high-pitched voice of one of his guests. I don't know what sad story they are telling, but it can't keep this guy under control.

That's a great video... the funny thing is its nearly impossible not to laugh at it too, even though the poor guy doesn't get what's so funny. It was good having you back in Practice of Ministry class with us today, the class has been a blessing.

I am guessing they are talking about their sexual relationship ( or non sexual relationship) due to his wife's (or partner's) paralysis.
I hav e toa dmit, if I were in his seat I might have trouble too.

What's funny is that his laugh is just as funny as the mans voice (a lot like uncle Jimmy's laugh)

Whatever humor some others find in this video is lost on me. I don't get it.

Perhaps I don't have a sense of humor, or perhaps I've been skewed by Paul's admonition to weep with those who weep.

Taking pleasure in the apparent misfortune of others doesn't seem a virtuous exercise of the human spirit.

I think Dr. York is right on when he suggests that there are times that laughter is inappropriate.

Unless you've ever gotten the giggles in church or class, you might not find this funny.

I remember getting the giggles sitting next to B. Hockensmith in Dr. Stein's Hermeneutics class.

I was just catching my breath and a loud sharp squeek came out of my mouth. Brad and I were off and running.

We would calm down just enough to feel the other person shaking, then it would start again.

We would calm down then I would look at him and it would start all over again.

10 minutes would pass and I would think about the experience and it would start all over again.

If I had bamboo in my backpack, I would have stuck them under my fingernails to stop, I just couldn't.

this is a true program in flemish(belgian)that dealt with odd topics, however was taken off air due to this very bit...they are talking about the life he had before the change in pitch of his voice.there is infact another version of this were he continues to laugh even more uncontrollably until he bursts out in completle hilarity to a member of the audience who infact has a very low voice.
